New FMCSA operating authorities, refreshed daily

1803 of them have no cargo, liability or bond insurance on file yet; the other 7 already do — a fresh authority files insurance after registering, often only once it has a load to move, so an empty filing is the expected state for a new authority, not a red flag. It is also the reason this list matters: a carrier without a policy on file cannot legally dispatch a single load until FMCSA records one, which is exactly the window a factoring or insurance rep wants to reach them in.

Below are the 26 states with enough new activity on record to earn their own page — real content needs real volume, and a one-carrier page would just be padding. The other 30 states with activity are real too: their filings are in the paid export, not blown up into pages that can't support one.

Sources. Two public FMCSA datasets on data.transportation.gov, joined by docket number: Motus Authority History (dm5j-zc6c), filtered to “Initial Status” actions — a carrier's first authority grant — and Motus Carrier (nakq-58th) for the census fields: legal and DBA name, business city and state, and the BIPD/cargo/bond insurance-on-file flags.

Cadence and lag. FMCSA publishes the register as a daily-difference file that holds only its latest change set — roughly two days. This site rebuilds from it each morning, around 06:20 UTC, after the overnight publish. The window shown on every page is derived from the rows it actually displays, and widens as our own daily snapshots accrue.

What a row means. A granted authority is a status change in a federal register, not proof of trucks on the road — and no insurance on file is the normal newborn state for an authority, not a red flag. Verify any carrier on its official FMCSA SAFER record, linked from every row, before acting on one.

Vocabulary. FMCSA retired standalone MC numbers in October 2025 under its Unified Registration System. Rows here are keyed by USDOT number, with the docket shown as filed in the register.

Compliance. Company-level federal-record data only — no personal contact appends, no scraped emails or cell numbers, in the free pages and in the paid export alike. As-filed contact details stay on the carrier's official SAFER record, where FMCSA publishes them.
